WHA High-Level Dialogue on Healthy Indoor Air

This event has officially been awarded the “G7 Event” label.

This recognition means that the event is acknowledged as contributing to the priorities and international outreach of the G7 Summit, which will take place in Évian from June 15 to 17.

It confirms that this is not merely a conference, but an integral part of a concrete international initiative aimed at mobilizing leaders, policymakers, and institutions to develop global strategies for improving indoor air quality.

Event Overview

This high-level side event will be a curated exchange of leadership perspectives and expert contributions from UN agencies, Health Ministers, technical experts, and partners to elevate the issue of clean indoor air. The event will introduce new signatories of the Global Pledge for Healthy Indoor Air and introduce the goal of a WHA Resolution on Healthy Indoor Air Indoor air quality is a foundational yet under‐recognized determinant of global health, economic productivity, and societal resilience. As people spend most of their time indoors, the quality of indoor environments directly influences health and wellbeing, cognitive function, and quality of life. More broadly, ensuring healthy indoor air is fundamental to strengthening pandemic preparedness, enhancing climate resilience, and safeguarding global health security. Recent advances across science and engineering have strengthened the evidence linking improved indoor air quality with measurable public health and economic gains. All people benefit. There are no health downsides. In this context, the Geneva Health Forum, part of the Institute of Global Health (IGH) at the University of Geneva, aims to adopt a World Health Assembly (WHA) Resolution on Healthy Indoor Air to recognize indoor air quality as a global public health concern. This project is part of the Forum’s larger international initiative on “Improving indoor air quality: a public health issue”. This project brings together a high-level, multidisciplinary group of experts with the goal of developing documents in support of the WHA Resolution on Healthy Indoor Air. Air Club is a new, global non-profit that aims to make clean indoor air a reality for everyone. Air Club launched the Global Pledge for Healthy Indoor Air at United Nations Headquarters in New York as the first international commitment to formally recognize clean indoor air as fundamental for protecting health and safeguarding well-being. France and Montenegro are the first two countries to sign, alongside 250 other signatories from over 25 countries.

Geneva Health Forum at the World Health Assemby 2026

About the Geneva Health Forum

Established in 2006 by the University Hospitals of Geneva (HUG) and the University of Geneva (UNIGE), the Geneva Health Forum (GHF) is a Swiss not-for-profit initiative that brings together a diverse range of stakeholders to discuss and address global health challenges.

The GHF plays a pivotal role in the global health landscape, as a neutral and inclusive platform, fostering dialogue and collaboration among key players in the field, including policymakers, representatives from academia, civil society, and the private sector.

Its core mission is to facilitate constructive dialogue among these global health actors, which, in turn, contributes to the improvement of health policies and access to care worldwide. The Geneva Health Forum proudly collaborates with some of the most prominent international organizations based in Geneva.
